Dr. Ottinger earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Ball State University in 2015 as well as a master’s degree in exercise science with a concentration in sport performance in 2017. In 2022\, Dr. Ottinger earned his PhD in human performance from Concordia University of Chicago with specific attention to strength and conditioning and biomechanics. Charlie is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) and an American College of Sports Medicine certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-EP) and has over a decade of personal training and strength and conditioning experience. Charlie has competed in numerous sports\, including baseball\, football\, and elite powerlifting\, with mountain biking being his latest adventure. Charlie’s research interests include acute and chronic adaptations to resistance training variables as well as the biomechanical determinants of training quality. \nCharlie lives in Wendell with his wife and their numerous dogs and cats. They love all things outdoors and travel – especially if good food is involved.
