2022 Barton College Homecoming Scheduled for October 28-29

WILSON, N.C. — October 24, 2022 — Barton College’s 2022 Homecoming Weekend (Oct. 28-29) is just around the corner!  Atlantic Christian/Barton alumni and Bulldog fans from across the region will be welcomed to campus for a great weekend of activities that begins on Friday, Oct. 28, with the annual Alumni Golf Tournament at Wilson Country Club. The tournament is expected to host 23 teams for a fun 18 holes. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Alumni Association Scholarship.

Back by popular demand is the Bulldog Bash at the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park on Friday evening from 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Barton/ACC alumni, employees, current students, friends and supporters of the College, and the greater Wilson community will come together to enjoy live music by “Chairmen of the Board.”  There also will be local food trucks and brews, and activities to enjoy. A check-in station for Homecoming will be located at the Whirligig Park for alumni convenience.

The Bulldog Bash celebrates the partnership between the downtown Wilson community and Barton College. Sponsored by Greenlight Community Broadband, the Wilson Visitors Center, and the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park, the Bulldog Bash’s partners with Historic Downtown Wilson, Wilson Chamber of Commerce, and City of Wilson to host this vibrant event.

“Back for the second year, the Bulldog Bash at the Whirligig Park is expected to be bigger and better,” shared Addison Meinhardt, director of integrated marketing for Institutional Advancement at Barton College. “This event gives us the opportunity to celebrate our partnership with the Wilson community while kicking off Homecoming weekend. We invite you to join us and bring a friend for a night of Barton spirit, local brews, and community fellowship.”

On Saturday morning, Torchbearers, the 50-Year Legacy Society, invites alumni celebrating their 50th year since their first graduation to be inducted and honored at the induction ceremony and reception at Hardy Alumni Hall. The event begins promptly at 9:30 a.m. with more than 75 alumni being inducted at this inaugural ceremony. Registration has closed for this event.

At 11 a.m., Tailgating on the Lawn begins on Center Campus with tailgating, local food trucks and treats, live music from the “Amazing Lounge Lizards,” and fun activities for the young and young at heart! The School of Nursing will host a health fair inside Nixon Nursing Building from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. that features student presentations, interactive activities, and information about topics such as healthy eating, breast cancer, and food safety.

On Saturday afternoon, the Homecoming Football game kicks off at Electric Supply Company Field at Truist Stadium. Barton will face Catawba College on the gridiron at 2 p.m. for what promises to be an exciting game for all.

Other Homecoming activities on Saturday include a Happy Hour at the BC Bistro from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and HallowHomecoming games and activities hosted by the School of Nursing from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

And, to round out a packed weekend of fellowship, food, sports, and fun, Barton students and alumni will dance the night away at the Homecoming Dance to wrap up a great weekend of old and new traditions. The dance, under the big tent, will begin at 8 p.m.
