Archer Bane

Executive Director of Institutional Advancement
Archer returned to Barton College in July of 2017 as the Director of Alumni Relations after spending time with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's athletic fundraising arm, The Rams Club. In August of 2018 he moved into the role of Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving and held that position until moving into his current position of Executive Director of Institutional Advancement in July of 2019. Archer is responsible for providing a coordinated, campus-wide approach to advancement including, development, annual giving, advancement services and alumni relations. He works closely with the president, senior staff and volunteer boards including the Board of Trustees to further the mission of Barton College.

Archer has degrees in Accounting and Sports management from Barton College, and was a member of the Men's Soccer Team, Honors Program, and Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity during his time on campus. He also has a Masters in Sport Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Tom Maze

Assistant Vice President for Leadership Giving
Tom joined the team in June 2014 and currently serves as Assistant Vice President for Leadership Giving. In this role, he builds relationships with alumni and philanthropic friends in an effort to enhance student learning opportunities and further the College’s mission through financial support. Tom serves as the point of contact on campus for planned giving opportunities as well as foundation support to the institution. Tom also serves as the co-lead liaison to the Board of Advisors in conjunction with the Director of Donor Relations, Brandi Orbin.

Tom brings over 23 years of institutional advancement experience and prior to Barton College held leadership roles at Methodist University, North Carolina Wesleyan College, Fork Union Military Academy and Rocky Mount Academy. A native of Petersburg, VA, Tom graduated from Methodist University majoring in Business Administration where he was a member of the men’s tennis team. Jessica Tyson

Director of Gifts and Information Management
Jessica joined the IA team in 2016 after tens years working in admissions and facilities at the College. Jessica's primary roles are to maintain the accuracy of our alumni and donor database, processes all donations, and provide updated financial and contact information for all development efforts. Jessica also works closely with the Donor Relations office as she plays an integral role in donor acknowledgements and special events.

Brandi Orbin

Director of Donor Relations
Brandi Orbin joined the team in August of 2019. She oversees all aspects of donor relations including special events on and off campus, the Advancement Office's comprehensive acknowledgement plan, Major gift stewardship and recognition efforts, Giving Society activities, and she serves as the official contact for inquiries regarding endowments to the College. Brandi also oversees the Alumni Association Board and is a point of contact for Alumni inquiries for any on campus activities.

Brandi's career in higher education spans 25 years. She has served in development, marketing communication and advancement roles over that time. She began her work experience in marketing communications for Meredith College which launched a career that has included tenure as director of foundation relations for Georgia Tech, director of advancement for the Center for the Environment at Catawba College, and associate director of development for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at NC State. Brandi holds a BA in Communication from NC State University. She and her husband (Will) are proud parents of twins Ben and Regan and black labrador retriever Ellie Mae. Kelly Taranto

Director of Development & Corporate Partnerships
Kelly Taranto joined the team in April 2021. Kelly oversees the comprehensive management and implementation of all development strategies for the annual giving program at the College. Kelly also manages the College's corporate partnership program and serves as the liaison to athletics for all athletic fundraising.

Kelly has worked in the nonprofit sector for more than 22 years securing public and private funds for education, health care, medical research, and the environment. She began her career working for the National Recreation and Park Association in Washington, DC and then for Reach Out and Read, Inc, a national pediatric literary program headquartered in Boston, MA. Kelly then joined JDRF, formerly known as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, where she worked for almost a decade prior to coming to Barton. Within JDRF, Kelly held a number of development roles including the Associate Executive Director for JDRF New England Chapter, Donor Relations Officer for the New England region, and since 2018 has served as a Leadership Giving Director for the National Leadership Giving team, serving the Southeast United States.

A native to the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, Kelly holds a BA in Public Policy and English from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA and has held a certification as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) since 2016. The Taranto family moved to Wilson, NC in June 2020 from Greater Boston, MA when Kelly's husband Kirby was relocated to Eastern NC for his job. Addison Meinhardt

Assistant Director of Alumni Relations
Addison joined the IA team in July 2021 after serving 3 years in the Office of Admissions at Barton and is a proud alumni. As the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations, Addison's focus is alumni communication and engagement and is the point of contact for all alumni office inquiries. She oversees the Alumni Association Board, all Homecoming activities, and Chapter Events. Additionally, Addison supports the external communication efforts of the Institutional Advancement team with the intention to grow philanthropic support to Barton College.

Before returning back to her alma mater in 2018, Addison previously served in various higher education roles at Campbell University and James Sprunt Community College.
