Tom Maze

Assistant Vice President for Leadership Giving
Tom joined the team in June 2014 and currently serves as Assistant Vice President for Leadership Giving. In this role, he builds relationships with alumni and philanthropic friends in an effort to enhance student learning opportunities and further the College’s mission through financial support. Tom serves as the point of contact on campus for planned giving opportunities as well as foundation support to the institution. Tom also serves as the liaison to the Board of Advisors.

Tom brings over 24 years of institutional advancement experience and prior to Barton College held leadership roles at Methodist University, North Carolina Wesleyan College, Fork Union Military Academy and Rocky Mount Academy. A native of Petersburg, VA, Tom graduated from Methodist University majoring in Business Administration where he was a member of the men’s tennis team. Contact Tom at 252-399-6533 or at

Addison Meinhardt

Assistant Director of Alumni Relations
Addison joined the IA team in July 2021 after serving 3 years in the Office of Admissions at Barton and is a proud alumni. As the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations, Addison's focus is alumni communication and engagement and is the point of contact for all alumni office inquiries. She oversees the Alumni Association Board, all Homecoming activities, and Chapter Events. Additionally, Addison supports the external communication efforts of the Institutional Advancement team with the intention to grow philanthropic support to Barton College.

Before returning back to her alma mater in 2018, Addison previously served in various higher education roles at Campbell University and James Sprunt Community College. Will Nowadly

Associate Director of Advancement
Will joined the IA team in May 2022 as Associate Director of Advancement. With over six years of institutional and athletics advancement experience, he will lead strategies for annual giving, including the annual unrestricted fund, general scholarship fund, Barton Society and Bell Society. In addition, he will serve as the liaison to athletics and the Bulldog Club for all athletic fundraising. Will returns to eastern North Carolina following his time at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School as Individual Giving and Annual Fund Strategist. Prior to his time at UNC, Will served as Director of Strategic Communications with the East Carolina University (ECU) Pirate Club. The Buffalo, NY native, previously worked at Gannon University, Canisius College and the University at Buffalo in athletics communications.

A 2007 graduate of Houghton College with a degree in communication and physical education, Will earned a master’s degree in sport administration from Canisius in 2013. He resides in Zebulon with his wife, Jessica, daughter and the Hound. Contact Will at 252-399-6544 or at

Kelly Taranto

Director of Development & Corporate Partnerships
Kelly Taranto joined the team in April 2021. Kelly oversees the comprehensive management and implementation of all development strategies for the College, with a special focus on strategic and corporate partnerships.

Kelly has worked in the nonprofit sector for more than 23 years securing public and private funds for education, health care, and the environment. Immediately prior to Barton, Kelly worked for JDRF for a total of almost 12 years holding a variety of leadership roles including the Associate Executive Director for JDRF New England Chapter, Donor Relations Officer for the New England region, and Leadership Giving Director for the National Leadership Giving team, serving the Southeast United States.

After living in the greater Boston area for two decades, Kelly and her husband Kirby reside in Wilson and are the proud parents of their teenage boys, Jackson and Tyler. A PA native, Kelly holds a BA in Public Policy and English from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA and has held a certification as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) since 2016. Jessica Tyson

Director of Gifts and Information Management
Jessica joined the IA team in 2016 after tens years working in admissions and facilities at the College. Jessica's primary roles are to maintain the accuracy of our alumni and donor database, processes all donations, and provide updated financial and contact information for all development efforts. Jessica also works closely with the Donor Relations office as she plays an integral role in donor acknowledgements and special events.
