“Sharing the Light ” 17th Annual Days of Scholarship and Engagement

April 15 - April 19

The 17th annual Days of Scholarship & Engagement scheduled for the week of Monday, April 15th through Friday, April 19th with Tuesday being the focal day. We are delighted to dedicate this week to the memory of Dr. Michael Fukuchi. The theme this year, as we continue to celebrate the College motto, habebunt lumen vitae, is “Sharing the Light.”

Schedule of Events

Monday, April 15th

  • Honors Lecture Series on “Not Death, but Eternal Life” with Dr. Murali Ranganathan, 12:30pm, Hackney Library Commons
  • “Bulldogs Abroad,” An interactive display opens Monday afternoon in the Hackney Library Art Gallery
  • Beats & Eats: Hear the creative works of our English students, wear your best Beatnik attire, grab a plate in the Culinary Center and join us at 7pm to support our students with your snaps.

Tuesday, April 16th

  • The Plenary Session featuring Shannon Baker, Class of 2021, 9am, Hardy Alumni Hall
  • The Poster Session featuring the work of undergraduate scholars in the Hackney Library. Posters available all day 10am – 5pm for viewing. Students will be present to discuss their work from 10:30am -12pm
  • The Gallery Crawl features the work of our art students and will be on display from 10am-5pm for viewing. Students will be present to discuss their work from 11am – 12:30pm in Case Art Building
  • Dr. Michael Fukuchi’s Art Collection will be available for viewing between 11am – 12:30pm in the Case Art Building
  • The Presentation Sessions from 1:00pm – 4:00 pm in Nixon Nursing and Moye Science Buildings.  Here, twenty-eight students presentations, two faculty presentations, and two panels will be offered.  Details of these will be available on the website when the full program is completed.
  • The Edible Book Contest & Reception, Hackney Library, 4:15pm

Wednesday, April 17th

  • Blood Drive sponsored by Healthcare+HOSA cohort in Hardy Alumni Hall, 10:00am – 3:30pm
  • Health & Wellness Fair on Center Campus from 11:00am – 1:00pm
  • Graduate Student Presentations in the Merck Lab in Belk Hall from 6:00pm – 7:00pm

Thursday, April 18th

  • The Spring Choir Concert in the Kennedy Family Theatre at 7pm

Friday, April 19th

  • Radiant Futures: Perspectives on Success in Physical Therapy Graduate School, Online discussion, 11:30am; link and QR code will be included in the program for access
  • Student Produced Works & The Spoken Word, Kennedy Family Theatre, 7:30pm
