A Night to Remember – Love the Symphony 2024

There are many types of art to enjoy on our campus, including visual arts, music, and more. The Barton College/Wilson Symphony Orchestra is just one example of the many cultural experiences available.

In 1964, a group of musicians formed a small string ensemble. Today, this group is more than 50 members strong and is known as the Barton College/Wilson Symphony Orchestra. The Symphony is a teaching orchestra that includes musicians from Barton College and the Wilson community. Its board of directors, in cooperation with Institutional Advancement, supplements support of the orchestra through fundraising efforts that enable the orchestra to hire professional musicians who perform during concerts and serve as mentors for student musicians. We also celebrate our endowed funds that continue to support the Symphony each year. The orchestra provides an extraordinary opportunity for members of the College and Wilson communities to join their musical gifts and talents for the study and performance of symphonic music.

On February 14, the Barton College/Wilson Symphony Orchestra hosted the 32nd Annual Love the Symphony dinner featuring the enchanting soprano Jordan Winslow Gracey, her husband Derek Gracey, under the direction of guest conductor and violinist Christopher Ellis.  Jordan is a Wilson native, which made her performance especially heartfelt.

Barton is honored to partner with our community to bring this experience to Wilson. Thank you to our volunteer board for their hard work in providing the program, and special thanks to our members and donors for supporting the arts.
