The Fund for Barton Explained

At Barton College, every gift you make has a direct impact on our students and campus community. The Fund for Barton, our largest source of funding, is pivotal in helping us maintain and enhance the quality of education and campus life. Through this fund, we enrich student experiences, boost campus safety, support faculty development, invest in cutting-edge technologies, and ensure necessary operational support.

The Fund for Barton is divided into three distinct categories, each playing a crucial role in the College’s financial health and flexibility:

  • The Unrestricted Annual Fund
  • The General Scholarship Fund
  • Program Specific Enhancement Funds

This structure allows Barton College to adapt to evolving needs, seize new opportunities, and support a robust financial aid model that ranges from $16-19 million. Notably, tuition alone covers only 50-60% of the actual cost of attendance, making The Fund for Barton essential in bridging this gap.

The Unrestricted Annual Fund helps meet the areas of greatest needs on Barton’s campus

The Unrestricted Annual Fund is often described as addressing “The Greatest Need on Campus.” Donations to this fund provide the flexibility to allocate resources where they are most needed. Whether it’s upgrading campus facilities, investing in new technologies, or enhancing student and academic support, this fund allows Barton to respond swiftly and effectively to immediate needs and opportunities.

The General Scholarship Fund provides direct support for students

This fund is dedicated to providing immediate scholarship aid to students. Contributions to the General Scholarship Fund are applied promptly by the Office of Financial Aid, either for the current academic year or saved for future use. By supporting this fund, donors help bridge the financial gap for students, making a Barton education more accessible.

Donors can support Program Specific Enhancements to align their passions to mission-driven initiatives

For those who wish to support specific areas of interest, Program Specific Enhancement Funds offer a way to make targeted contributions. These funds allow donors to support particular programs, departments, or initiatives, thereby having a direct impact on the areas they are passionate about. Whether it’s the arts, athletics, or academic programs, these contributions help advance specific outcomes and innovations.

Investing in The Fund for Barton is an investment in the future of the College and its students. Your support helps ensure that Barton College continues to provide an exceptional educational experience, foster a vibrant campus environment, and respond effectively to both current and emerging needs.

We invite you to join us in making a lasting impact. Designate your gift to The Fund for Barton and become a vital part of our mission to support and empower every Bulldog.
